New Maui Nui Travel App Now Available on iTunes

by kelii on July 14, 2010

A new travel app, “Maui Essential Guide”, explores resorts, beaches, golf courses, towns and activities on the Islands of Maui Nui — Maui, Lanai and Molokai. Written by respected and award-winning travel writer Carol Fowler and produced by Sutro Media, it is now available through iTunes.

The app, downloadable on iPhones, iPod Touches, and iPads, features 228 entries with interactive maps, Weblinks and almost 1,200 photos arranged for slide shows.

The entries cover water sports and land activities, including surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, paddle boarding, golfing, hiking and zipline adventures. Shopping, luau, historical sites, Hawaiian culture, agri-tourism and restaurants provide other information for island activities. Fowler pinpoints the things first-time visitors won’t want to miss, such as sunset cruises, but she also reveals waterfalls, bamboo forest trails and a world-famous kite shop in Molokai’s smallest village.

Fowler, a travel writer and former newspaper travel editor, wrote the guidebook, “Maui: Great Destinations Hawaii” (Countryman Press). Much of her expertise from the guidebook appears in the travel app, a convenient platform for information.
